There are almost 70 patients on trolleys in Galway today, amid high overcrowding at both public hospitals.
University Hospital Galway is the second most overcrowded in the country again today, with 57 patients without a bed.
The bulk of these, 53 people, are on trolleys in the emergency department, and another four are in the wards.
Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe is also busier than usual, with 12 patients in the ED without a bed today.
Figures from the INMO’s Trolley/Ward Watch show a total of 426 patients in Irish hospitals who are on trolleys today.
Of those, the worst affected hospitals are Cork UH (62), UHG (57), and University Hospital Limerick (53).
