A fundraiser has been set up to make sure Santa Claus gets to the children who will be staying with their mothers in the Women’s Refuge, Modh eile House, COPE Galway this Christmas.

The Women’s Refuge is for women and their children who need emergency accommodation due to domestic violence.

The GoFundMe campaign aims is to make sure that the children staying in the refuge for Christmas are not forgotten by Santa, ensuring that presents can arrive to the shelter by Christmas Eve.

Since 2014 the successful project has been organised by staff in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, UCFRC Family Support and Medicine at NUI Galway, in partnership with staff at COPE Galway’s Women’s Refuge.

For further information about this project, people can contact Dr Hazel Killeen, Professor Caroline McGregor or Ms Gillian Browne at NUI Galway.
