NUI Galway recently marked a milestone in its Biomedical Engineering programme, celebrating 20 years of medtech graduates passing through it halls.
Since the programme commenced in 1998 over 800 biomedical engineers have graduated from the University.
These have found work in the many multinationals in the medical sector which have located in Galway.

Many have also gone on to found and support the establishment of start-up medical device and technology companies.
As part of the event, the University held a panel discussion with biomedical and engineering graduates focusing on the past and future of Biomedical Engineering at NUI Galway.
The panel also looked at how the programme can continue to be a cornerstone of Galway’s medtech ecosystem.
