The winning ticket for the €1 million lotto jackpot on Tuesday was sold at Sweeney Oil petrol station in Clifden the National Lottery has revealed.

The winning ticket for the Euromillions Ireland Only Raffle was a Quick Picket ticket sold at the service station on the Galway Road on the same day as the draw.

Liam Killeen, Retail Manager of Sweeney Oil said “It’s incredible news. Can you believe that it’s just over 20 years since we last sold a major National Lottery winning ticket?”

“Back then the prize was worth €1 million too! These days, with travel restrictions, pretty much all our trade comes from our customers in the local area so let’s hope that this winner is someone in our community.

“There’s great excitement here this morning and we’ve been spreading the news to our customers in the service station, reminding them all to check their tickets. Whoever it is we congratulate them and wish them the very best of luck with it!”

The ‘Ireland Only Raffle’ winning raffle code from Tuesday’s EuroMillions draw, which is worth €1,005,000 (One Million and Five Thousand Euro) to one lucky Galway player is: I – JXR – 67753.

People in Clifden and its surrounding areas in Galway are now being encouraged to check their EuroMillions tickets carefully.

Clifden is a town which is no stranger to a Lottery win as just last August a winning Lotto jackpot ticket worth €7.3 million was sold at Rogan’s Gala store in Clifden so maybe there’s something in the sea air in the town,” a spokesperson for the National Lottery said.

“If you played EuroMillions in the Clifden area recently we are asking you to check your raffle code is I-JXR–67753.”

“If that code matches the one on your EuroMillions ticket then we would ask you to sign the back of the ticket and contact our prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and we will make arrangements for you to collect your prize.”

This is the third new millionaire crowned in the National Lottery’s ‘Fortnight of Fortunes’ which aims to create five new millionaires in Ireland.
