Gardaí investigating the death of Ashling Murphy have today arrested a man on suspicion of murder in connection with the case.

The 23 year old teacher was killed while out running along the canal bank at Cappincur, Tullamore at approximately 4pm on Wednesday, January 12.

A man in his 30s has today been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the case.

He is currently detained in Tullamore Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
