The Department of Health has reported 379 new cases of Covid-19 in the State and 12 further deaths related to the disease.
The number of new cases reported in Galway today is 17, while there were 116 additional cases in Dublin, 38 in Donegal and 30 in Meath.
64% are under 45 years of age and the median age of the cases is 36.
Including suspected or probable Covid related deaths, the number of fatalities linked to the disease in Ireland is now more than 2,000.
“Today we sadly report over 2,000 deaths associated with COVID-19 to date in this country,” said Dr Tony Holohan this evening.
“This pandemic has impacted, directly and indirectly, on families and communities all across Ireland.
“It is important that we continue to work together if we are to suppress this virus and protect as many people as possible. For the next two weeks, work from home, stay at home and follow public health advice.”
As of 2pm today, there are 282 people with COVID-19 in Irish hospitals, of which 33 are in ICU. There have been 22 additional hospitalisations over the past 24 hours.
