A 28 year old man faces trial for allegedly assaulting a woman and making threats to kill or seriously harm her.

Darren Duggan (28), with an address at Gleann na Rí, Renmore, is charged with assaulting the same person on two separate occasions at different locations in Galway City.

One of the assaults allegedly took place in August of this year, while the other, a more serious charge of Assault Causing Harm, is alleged to have occurred in October of 2019.

Duggan is also charged with making threats to kill or cause serious harm to the same individual in the August 2020 incident.

Evidence of arrest, charge and caution was given for the Assault Causing Harm and Threats to Kill charges at Galway District Court this week.

Judge Mary Fahy said that she would not be extending bail to these sheets, as they contain much more serious charges than the other alleged assault.

The Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that the charges should proceed on indictment.

The case was adjourned to next Monday, November 2 for Duggan to appear by video link.
